Mexico Public Safety Announces Promotion Of New Major And Assistant Chief

Mexico Public Safety is announcing Stuart J. Thompson III as the department’s next Major and Assistant Chief.

According to a press release from Mexico Public Safety, Thompson was selected after a competitive selection process and began his new duties today (Monday), July 17, 2023.

Major Thompson started with Mexico Public Safety in 2002, however left to work with the Columbia Police Department for a short time in 2008, before returning to Mexico Public Safety.

Major Thompson was most recently a lieutenant with the department and is a certified Drug Recognition Expert and a NHTSA certified instructor of Standardized Field Sobriety Testing.

In February, he graduated the 529th class of the School of Police Staff and Command at Northwestern University, which provides upper-level college instruction in law enforcement leadership.
