Leslie Dickherber has been promoted to Missouri Military Academy (MMA) assistant quartermaster.
Dickherber arrived at MMA following an extensive career as an educator and coach.
She has served at MMA for two years in cadet transportation and the tailor shop before assuming her current role as the cadet store assistant.
“Leslie is a multitalented professional who we have depended on for so many diverse tasks,” says Academy President Brigadier General Richard V. Geraci, USA (Ret).
“Her background in education, managerial skills, experience working with young people, and her personal initiative and flexibility as an MMA team member have made her invaluable in our day-to-day operations supporting our cadets.
This promotion is well deserved and enhances our ability to execute our mission.”
In her new role as assistant quartermaster, Dickherber supports the quartermaster and oversees the department during his absence.
She assists cadets in upholding Academy standards and teaching them accountability in maintaining proper uniforms.
In addition, she helps oversee the issue and tailoring of cadet uniforms, manages mail and packages, and coordinates dry cleaning and laundry activities.
“I do my best to help the cadets have a good start to their day in the quartermaster,” Dickherber says.
Her role includes many important behind-the-scenes tasks, such as properly labeling all issued items that support organization and accountability for thousands of uniform and issued clothing items.
She maintains inventory for the quartermaster, canteen and concessions.
Dickherber says she loves to work with cadets and help brighten their days.“Greeting the cadets, while meeting their needs for the day, is so rewarding,” she says.
“Building rapport with these young men allows them to have a safe place to go where they can have a heart-to-heart conversation with someone.
I enjoy helping these young men become the best versions of themselves while treating them with the utmost dignity and respect, which teaches them to do the same for others.”
Dickherber has over two decades of experience in education. She served 21 years as a public high school teacher of physical education and business.
She also has experience coaching for students from middle school to college levels.
Dickherber has coached track and field, basketball and volleyball. She notes the outdoors as her “happy place,” and also loves to hunt, cook, bake and sew.
She holds two master’s degrees from Northwest Missouri State University, one in instructional technology and another in physical education.
She also has a bachelor’s degree from Northwest Missouri State University in physical education with a minor in business.
