Mexico Man Arrested After Being Accused Of Holding A Woman Against Her Will

A Mexico man is facing kidnapping charges after an arrest during the evening hours of Tuesday, November 21, 2023.

According to a news release from Mexico Public Safety says officers responded to a call of someone being held against their will just after 6:30pm in the 900 block of Vance Road.

Responding officers say they found 31-year-old Kevin D. Benton of Mexico and a 25-year-old woman in the area.

Public Safety says an investigation indicated Benton told a third party he was going to kidnap the woman.

He then grabbed her, covered her mouth, and attempted to get her to leave with him prior to officers arriving.

Benton was arrested and processed at Mexico Public Safety and then taken to the Audrain County Jail for Second Degree Kidnapping, Fourth Degree Domestic Assault and Armed Criminal Action.

The woman was not injured and there was no indication Benton was a threat to anyone else according to Mexico Public Safety.
