Mexico Basketball Conquers The North In Twin Varsity Wins At Kirksville

The Mexico Bulldogs boys and girls basketball teams picked up twin varsity road wins over Kirksville on Tuesday, December 12. 2023.

The Mexico Lady Bulldogs defense stymied the Kirksville offense with a 27-19 victory.

The Lady Bulldogs never trailed.

Claire Hudson led the way with eight points.

Followed by Grace Hudson and Jordyn Thurman who finished with six points each respectively.

Karlee Sefit had three points.

And it was Addison Heim and Hannah Loyd with two points each.

With the win the Mexico girls improved to 3-5 overall and a perfect 2-0 in the North Central Missouri Conference.

The Mexico Bulldogs boys pushed their record to 7-0 after hanging on to beat Kirksville 62-61.

It was a battle through out the game.

Mexico’s biggest lead was one point.

Kirksville would lead by as many as 10 points.

Bulldogs junior point guard Jaydon Eldridge put the Bulldogs back on top for good with 4.8 seconds to go in the fourth when he nailed a clutch three pointer.

Eldridge led all scorers with 19 points.

PJ Perkins had 15 points.

And senior point guard DJ Long put up 14 points with multiple assists.

The Mexico boys went 2-0 in the North Central Missouri Conference.

Up next the Mexico boys and girls teams will be in action on Thursday, December 14th, at home when they host the Hannibal Pirates.
