It was a heavyweight battle between two state ranked teams as the Mexico Bulldogs gave the Eugene Eagles their first loss of the season with an 82-77 overtime win at the Mexico High School on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.
Mexico’s first lead didn’t happen until overtime.
Eugene’s biggest lead was 12 points.
The Bulldogs were down by 9 points going into the fourth period and tied the game with just under three minutes to go.
Mexico would force overtime tied at 69.
The Bulldogs outscored the Eagles 13 to 8 in the overtime period to pick up the victory.
DJ Long led all scorers with 26 points.
Charlie Fisher nailed 4-three pointers on his way to 16 points.
Jaydon Eldridge recorded 16 points.
And PJ Perkins had two monster jams and ended up with 12 points.
Mexico improved their record to 9-1.
Eugene fell to 8-1.
