Mexico Bulldogs Basketball Heroes DJ Long And Jaydon Eldridge Hit Clutch Free Throws In Close Win Over Hillcrest In Rolla Holiday Tournament Semifinals
The Mexico Bulldogs boys basketball team advanced to the championship game of the U.S. Bank Boys Holiday Tournament with a 69-67 win over the Hillcrest Hornets in Rolla on Thursday, December 28, 2023.
The Bulldogs trailed by four going into the final quarter.
Mexico senior point guard DJ Long gave the Bulldogs a 67-65 lead by hitting two free throws with 20.9 seconds left in the game.
Hillcrest then went down the court and scored a lay up to tie the game at 67 with 11.8 seconds to go.
Jaydon Eldridge was fouled with .4 seconds on the clock and went to the free throw line and made both free throws to put the Bulldogs up 69-67.
Hillcrest would inbound the ball and miss a half court shot and Mexico escaped with the win.
Top scorers for Mexico included DJ Long with 25 points and three-three pointers.
Jaydon Eldridge finished with 16 points and two-three pointers.
Donye Nunnelly put up 10 points.
PJ Perkins with 8 points.
Kaden Benne and Aidan Knipfel had 2 points each respectively.
Mexico improves to 11-1 overall and will play for the U.S. Bank Holiday Invitational Championship on Friday night at 6pm against the winner of the Warrensburg/Rolla game.
