Mexico High School Boys Wrestling Sending Eight To State

The Mexico Bulldogs boys high school wrestling team is sending eight to State after competing at the district tournament on Saturday, February 19, 2024.

The Bulldogs boys finished second place as a team at districts and had three of their wrestlers crowned as district champs.

The eight going to state are Carlos Juarez Ramirez, Brayden Arnold, Watson Azdell, Kyler Carr, Grant Van Horn, Isai Hernandez, Emile Scanavino, and Grant Walker.

The district champs on the day were Carlos Juarez Ramirez, Grant Van Horn and Emile Scanavino.

Mexico head coach Gayle Adams says “Over all on the weekend the guys did great we took 10 guys to the tournament and 8 qualified for state.

Lost Wilson on the bubble match and Hodge in OT in the 3rd wrestle back.

Proud of this team the guys battled all weekend.”

The state wrestling tournament takes place on Wednesday, February 21, and Thursday February 22, at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.
