Mexico Bulldogs Advance To Elite Eight After Beating Borgia In Sectional Playoff Game At Mexico High School

The Mexico Bulldogs boys basketball team provided a crowd thrilling 62-56 Sectionals win over St. Francis Borgia Knights at the Mexico High School on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

Mexico took a 2-0 lead on a made bucket from senior Donye Nunnelly to start the game.

The game was tied at 5 in the opening minutes.

After that Borgia went on a run.

The Knights outscored the Bulldogs 21-8 in the first quarter.

Mexico trailed 35-24 at halftime.

Some clutch second half free throws from Mexico helped the Bulldogs advance.

Mexico hit 15 of their 18 free throws in the second half.

DJ Long lead all scorers with 20 points.

Kaden Benne who averages 8.1 points on the season had a monster game hitting four-three pointers and finishing with a season high 19 points.

Up next Mexico will be on the road to face the number one team in Class 4–Vashon in the Quarters of the State Tournament on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
