The Audrain Regional Medical Center Board met in Mexico on Thursday, March 7, 2024.
The board was formed on October 16, 2023 and consists of a group of local physicians and community members that are interested in seeing a hospital reopened in Mexico.
During Thursday’s meeting Board President Donna Corrado reported that she recently attended the American Hospital Association’s Rural Health Care Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida.
During the three-day conference Mrs. Corrado found out information from people who are running rural hospitals that are thriving and how they are progressing forward.
Mrs. Corrado brought the board information about vendors, staffing. cyber security, supply chains and equipment needed to reopen a hospital.
Mrs.Corrado says it is important to rethink the landscape as to how to bring health care back to Mexico, Mo.
The Audrain Regional Medical Center Board has filed for 501c status and is currently awaiting certification.
Ziva Medical, the owners of the existing building of the shuttered hospital is also working on reopening the hospital and is navigating through bankruptcy court currently.
Mrs. Corrado says her group has no intention of interfering with Ziva Medical, however, if they are unable to reopen the hospital in Mexico. then another plan is in place.
