The Mexico High School Academic Team has moved up in the national rankings.
In the new rankings released on Sunday, April 14, 2024, Mexico moved up from four spots from 17th to 13th best in the nation.
The news comes after Mexico claimed the Class 5 District 4 championship making them back-back champs.
47 other academic teams across the state competed in the district championship at the Mexico High School on Saturday, April 13, 2024.
Mexico defeated Kirksville in the championship by a score of 430-220.
Mexico’s Camden Williams made the All-District team as the top scorer.
He averaged 143.33 points per game.
Members of the District winning Mexico Bulldogs were seniors Christian Frederickson and Liam Hoyle, juniors Carter Blackburn, Lucita Gleeson, Andrew Peuster, Dylan Reid and Camden Williams, and sophomores Hunter Feger, AJ Leon and Jude Yancey.
Up next Mexico will host the State Quarterfinals at the Mexico High School on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
Mexico will face Washington in a best of three matchup.
Game 1 is scheduled to start at 5pm.
The winner goes on to the State Tournament on Saturday May 4th, 2024.
