Apartment Building Destroyed By Fire Being Demolished
An apartment building where a Mexico woman died in a fire is being demolished on Thursday, May 23, 2024.
The owners of the apartment building at East Jackson and North Coal Streets started the demolition Thursday morning.
The City of Mexico posted a notice on their Facebook page this morning saying Coal Street, between East Promenade and East Monroe Streets will be closed until later this afternoon.
Mexico Public Safety responded to the apartment building fire on October 9, 2023.
53-year-old Shelia Ball died in the fire.
Five adults and an infant made it out of the building according to Mexico Public Safety.
