Mexico Public Safety Responds To Bedroom Fire In Large Two Story Home
No injuries reported following a house fire in Mexico during the afternoon hours of Friday, May 31, 2024.
Mexico Public Safety Department responded to the 800 block of South Jefferson in reference to a structure fire in a large, two story home.
Responding personnel found the fire in an upstairs bedroom as it began to spread into the attic.
The fire was contained and extinguished in the this area with the bedroom suffering significant fire damage and the areas of the bedroom suffering serious smoke damage and some water damage.
Two of the residents were in the downstairs portion of the home at the time of the fire.
They reported hearing smoke detectors then finding extreme dark smoke in the upstairs portion of the home before calling 9-1-1.
According to Mexico Public Safety it was determined the fire started in an area where numerous electrical items were plugged in and covered by clothing.
