Mexico Bulldogs Varsity Basketball Team Perfect At Harrisburg Shootout
The Mexico high school varsity basketball team went 3-0 at the Harrisburg Shootout on Monday, June 10, 2024.
The Mexico Bulldogs defeated Harrisburg 43-37.
Mexico head coach Darren Pappas says “We got off to a quick start against Harrisburg thanks to Kaden Benne’s perimeter scoring and Jaydon Eldridge’s defense. We found a way to hold on against a scrappy Harrisburg team.”
Mexico Beat Cairo 58-28.
Coach Pappas said “We got off to a hot start with our pressure defense which led to a PJ Perkins alley-oop dunk and got great contribution from our bench which consisted of Kinser Groves, Hunter Bickell, Sam Ryan, Landon Johannober.
Jaydon Eldridge shot it well from the perimeter.”
Mexico notched a win over Hallsville 43-36.
Coach Pappas said “We had to dig deep late to make some key defensive stops which led to a Charlie Fisher steal and layup, a PJ Perkins one handed flush, and a Holden Aulbur two handed slam to seal it. We still have plenty of things to clean up, but this group is competing at a high level for the summer.”
Up next Mexico goes to Central Methodist on Wednesday and then head to Cape Girardeau on Friday and Saturday when they compete in the Rib City Shootout against teams from Missouri, Illinois, and Kentucky.
