Mexico Lady Bulldogs With Impressive Performance At Montgomery County Shootout

The Mexico Lady Bulldogs high school basketball team competed in the Montgomery Shootout and finished with a 2-1 record on Tuesday, June 26, 2024.

Mexico beat Warrenton 44-21.

Mexico narrowly lost to Pittsfield, Illinois 38-36.

Then the Lady Bulldogs bounced back with a 23-20 victory over Van-Far.

Mexico head coach Makenzie Mudd says “We also participated in the shootout’s 2 Minute Tournament.

There is a random double-elimination bracket and each game is 2 minutes long, with winners advancing and losers going to the losers bracket to try and fight back to the championship game.

We went undefeated and won that tournament, showing a lot of great instinct and grit in end-of-game style situations.

Overall, I was very impressed with the effort and outcome of the games today.

We only had 8 players and played a lot of basketball and had to fight through some tough opponents.

There are so many positive takeaways from this summer’s games and I am very excited for this upcoming season to continue to build on the work that these athletes have been putting in.”
