Several officials from a Monroe County Church were arrested on Friday after being accused of participating in a $1.2 million pandemic relief loan fraud scheme.
The fraud scheme took place at Faith Walk Ministry in Paris.
Visiting minister Kenneth Sparks III, lead minister Harold Long, and church administrative assistant Mya McClain are among those charged, as well as Maryland business owner Jeffery Oboita.
All four individuals have been charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud among other charges.
The indictment alleges Oboite taught Sparks and McClain how to submit fraudulent applications for Paycheck Protection Program loans.
According to a Department of Justice news release, Oboite and Sparks both received more than $200,000 from the loans form fraudulent applications.
The conspirators also received over $1 million in Paycheck Protection loans for other individuals.
