Mexico Bulldogs Gives Hannibal A Battle In District Semifinal Playoff Game

The Mexico Bulldogs had their football season come to an end with a 42-27 to Hannibal in the Class 4 District 5 Semifinals in Hannibal on Friday, November 8, 2024.

It was a back-and-forth game and unlike the Week 5 game between these two teams in the regular season, which Hannibal shutout Mexico 40-0.

Hannibal scored first in tonight’s game on a 30-yard pass from Waylon Anders to Reid Holloway at in the first quarter.

Mexico would answer back on their next possession on a 52-yard drive that was capped off by a 1 yard quarterback keeper that saw Charlie Fisher score.

Then on a low snap, Kaden Benne would scramble and throw a complete pass for a two-point conversion.

Mexico led 8-7 after the first quarter.

After the Mexico defense forced Hannibal to punt, the Bulldogs offense would take over and score again on a five-yard touchdown rush by Korbyn Dorsey.

Mexico led 15-7 at the 8:04 mark of the second quarter.

Hannibal would the score on a Waylon Anders quarterback and after a successful two-point conversion the game was tied at 15.

The Bulldogs then put together an 80 yard drive that ended on a 1 yard touchdown from Hunter Cuno.

The extra point was no good and Mexico was up 21-15 with 2:58 seconds left in the second quarter.

Hannibal would score just before the half.

The Pirates would take a 22-21 lead into halftime.

Mexico would score on their opening drive in the third quarter on a three-yard rush from Korbyn Dorsey.

The Bulldogs two-point conversion was no good.

Mexico led 27-22.

Hannibal would take control from scoring two more touchdowns.

Mexico finishes up the season with a 5-6 record.

Hannibal will play Warrenton next week for the Class 4 District 5 championship.
