Mexico Public Safety Releases Identity Of Woman Who Died In Drug Overdose

Mexico Public Safety released the identity of the woman who died in a drug overdose death to KXEO News.

According to Mexico Public Safety Department, 62-year-old Barbara Littrell of Mexico died in a July, 2024 drug overdose.

The following press release was sent out from Mexico Public Safety.

On July 1st, 2024 at approximately 08:46 AM, the Mexico Public Safety Department responded to the 600 block of Eastholm St. in reference to a person found dead in their
home by a family member.

Officers located a 62–year–old female who had died in her bedroom.

It was later determined she had died of fentanyl toxicity. The MPSD investigation led to a case being forwarded to the Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, arrest warrants were issued for Timothy R. Hoffman, age 45 and Shelbi R Hamilton, age 27. Both warrants were for Murder 2nd degree, Delivery of a Controlled Substance, and some associated charges.

Hamilton was arrested at approximately 5:51 PM in the 700 block of W Jackson and taken to the Audrain County Jail without incident.

Hoffman is currently in Missouri Department of
Corrections for unrelated offenses.

Residents are reminded that people arrested / charged with a crime are simply accused of the crime and are to be considered innocent until proven guilty.
