Two people have been charged with murder in connection to a July overdose of a Mexico woman.
According to a news release from Mexico Public Safety, their officers responded to the 600 block of Eastholm Street the morning of July 1st, 2024 in reference to a person found dead in their home by a family member.
Officers found a 62-year-old woman who had died in her bedroom.
It was later determined she had died of fentanyl toxicity.
The Mexico Public Safety investigation led to a case being forwarded to the Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Arrest warrants were issued for 45-year-old Timothy R. Hoffman, and 27-year-old Shelbi R. Hamilton on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.
Both warrants were for 2nd Degree Murder, Delivery of a Controlled Substance, and some associated charges.
Hamilton was arrested and taken to the Audrain County Jail.
Hoffman is currently in Missouri Department of Corrections for unrelated charges.
