Mexico Public Safety Department Investigating Cause Of Tractor Trailer Fire On US Highway 54 Bypass

The cause of a vehicle fire on the Highway 54 Bypass in Mexico is still under investigation.

Mexico Public Safety was dispatched to the US Highway 54 Bypass to a tractor trailer unit on fire just before 7:15am on Monday, December 23, 2024.

Upon, arrival officers found a 2000 Peterbilt loaded with corn on fire.

The tractor portion of the unit was fully involved in fire and was extinguished by Mexico Public Safety Department personnel.

During salvage operations, the loaded trailer collapsed.

The corn had to be offloaded so the trailer could be removed from the scene.

Travelers experienced delays on the Bypass throughout the day until the scene was cleared around 2:30 yesterday (Monday) afternoon.
