Missouri State Highway Patrol Reports Winter Weather Crash Numbers

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports one fatality occurred on state roads over the weekend as a winter storm hit Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the fatality happened during the afternoon hours of Sunday, January 5, 2025, in Jackson County when a dump truck stopped to let the passenger a 61-year-old man from Independence out of the vehicle.

The dump truck started to slide on the roadway and hit the man who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol wrote on its social media that from noon Saturday through 3pm yesterday (Monday), there have been 3,134 calls for service, 1,788 stranded motorists, 436 crashes and 38 injuries.
