Mexico Man Accused Of Attempted Sexual Assault Of A Juvenile

A Mexico man has been charged with attempted sexual assault.

Mexico Public Safety Department responded to a home on just before 10:30pm on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025.

According to the probable cause statement a witness claimed that they had woken up to use the restroom when they observed a juvenile asleep in 61-year-old Sammy W. Munford’s bed.

The statement says the probable cause statement reads the witness stated the sleeping child’s bottoms had been pulled down and their backside was exposed.

They accused Munford of inappropriately touching the juvenile.

Officers noted the witness removed the child from the room and called law enforcement.

The victim allegedly told police that they had gone into the bedroom to look for their pet cat before watching a movie and falling asleep in bed fully clothed.

Munford was charged with First-Degree Attempted Sexual Abuse.

An arrest was served with a condition that he be held without bond.
