Milestones Reached And Seniors Celebrated As Mexico Bulldogs Basketball Hosted Hannibal Pirates

The Mexico Bulldogs and Mexico Lady Bulldogs basketball teams celebrated Senior Night at the Mexico High School with games against the Hannibal Pirates on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025.

The Mexico boys defeated Hannibal 65-33 and finished with a perfect 10-0 record in the North Central Missouri Conference for a second consecutive season.

Mexico boys also picked up their 20th win of the season as they finish the regular season with a record of 20-6.

Mexico head coach Darren Pappas picked up his 150th career win.

Jaydon Eldridge led all scorers with 14 points and a dunk.

PJ Perkins had 12 points and two jams.

Holden Aulbur put up 12 points.

And Kaden Benne hit two-three pointers and contributed 10 points.

The seven Mexico seniors honored were Sam Ryan, Jaydon Eldridge, PJ Perkins, Austin Maxwell, Holden Aulbur and Davontae Frame. Mexico will play either Centralia or Moberly in semifinals of  the Class 4 District 8 Tournament on Mar. 5, 2025 at 6pm.

The Mexico Lady Bulldogs lost to the Hannibal Lady Pirates 61-54.

Mexico freshman Scottie Smith had a career high 22 points.

Senior McKenzie Taylor got into double digits with 16 points.

Hannibal senior Mariah Mayfield led all scorers with 25 points.

Mayfield also reached 1,000 points in varsity playing career.

Mexico fell 13-12 overall.

The Lady Bulldogs honored their four seniors- Claire Hudson, Haley Perkins, Kenley Jones, McKenzie Taylor.
