The Lt. Governor’s office in conjunction with Missouri Arts Council delivered the road signs to the City of Mexico for the Creative Community award this week.
The City of Mexico is the 2025 recipient of the award which is the highest honor in the arts from the Missouri Arts Council.
The City of Mexico was honored for the award during a ceremony in February, 2025.
Lois Brace, Executive and Artistic Director of Presser Arts presented one of the signs to the Mexico City Council during their meeting on Monday, Mar. 24, 2025.
Brace says “The road signs are permanent and the award is permanent.
Only one community is chosen per year from other nominees for communities or areas of Missouri that exhibit arts in the community and creative opportunities.”
The colorful signs will be posted as road signs leading into Mexico.
Drew Wiliford, Director of Public Works for the City of Mexico will work with MoDOT for placement of the signs in the near future.
