Daytime Single-Lane Closure Of I-70 In Kingdom City Set For This Weekend

The following press release is from the Missouri Department of Transportation.

An extended, temporary single-lane closure of Interstate 70 in Kingdom City is planned for this weekend.

Construction crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation are continuing work to remove the railroad bridge located immediately west of U.S. Route 54.

Beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, March 28, and continuing to 6 a.m. Sunday, March 30, one lane of east and westbound I-70 under the railroad bridge, between mile markers 147.4 and 148, will be closed.

Workers will be present around-the-clock during the work.

All work is weather-permitting and subject to change.

Motorists should be prepared for various lane closures and ongoing construction work through 2027 as part of Improve I-70: Columbia to Kingdom City.

Drivers are reminded to slow down and pay attention in work zones. Buckle Up. Phone Down.

The first project in MoDOT’s Statewide Improve I-70 Program, Improve I-70: Columbia to Kingdom City, will add a third lane of travel in each direction to the 20-mile stretch of I-70 between U.S. Route 63 (Columbia) and Route 54 (Kingdom City).

This $405 million fixed-cost contract includes new pavement on all three lanes of I-70 and will also make interchange improvements to the I-70 interchanges at Route 63 and Route 54.

Construction is scheduled for completion in late 2027.
