The Mexico High School girls soccer team played for the championship at the Chris Hotop Classic on Saturday, Mar 30, 2025.
Mexico defeated Owensville 7-0 in game one of the Classic.
The Lady Bulldogs had an offensive explosion and received two goals from Bella Cummings, two goals from Marali Herrera, one goal and one assist from Zoey Norton, one goal from Emily Moppin, one goal from Bailey Christianson.
Claire Hudson contributed three assists.
Mexico head coach Sarah Olson says “We had a lot of good things going offensively, we played together as a team, and connected good passes.”
With the victory Mexico advanced to play Festus in Chris Hotop Classic championship game.
Mexico would fall 8-0 to Festus.
Cassandra Young recorded 10 saves for the Lady Bulldogs.
Mexico head coach Sarah Olson says “We faced a good team who scored some really nice goals and played fast. We were pretty much stuck on our defensive half so we couldn’t get much going offensively. It was a sort of day of highs and lows and I’m hopeful that moving forward, we can build off the the highs.”
