MHS Senior Carr Receives Hart Award

Mexico senior Tyson Carr has been named the recipient of this year’s Davis H. Hart Award. Carr, a student in the Welding Technology program, received a plaque and a $1,000 scholarship, presented by Hart Career Center Director Chris Denham.

He was nominated by instructors DeIla Ray and Scott Ulrich.

The Davis H. Hart Award is given annually to a senior who demonstrates excellence in their technical program. Eligible students must meet high standards, including a 95% or better attendance rate, a GPA of 3.0 or higher at HCC, mastery of at least 80% of program competencies, and completion of a two-year senior program. Nominees also submit a resume and deliver a presentation to a panel of judges as part of the selection process.

The award was established in 1977 to honor the legacy of Davis H. Hart, whose vision in 1968 led to the creation of Hart Career Center.

The HCC provides hands-on career and technical education to students from nine sending schools including Community R6, Fulton, Mexico, Missouri Military Academy, Montgomery County, North Callaway, Paris, Van-Far, and Wellsville-Middletown.
