Tanner Leads Police on Chase

A Mexico man was arrested over the weekend for leading authorities on a chase in Audrain and Callaway Counties.

According to a press release from the Audrain County Sheriff’s Office, an deputy was patrolling the 4000 block of Liberty Street and attempted to stop a Hyundai Elantra for a registration violation.

The suspect, Shaun Devon Tanner of Mexico, Mo., began fleeing the traffic stop by traveling south on Highway 54.

The press release states that the Tanner turned off his headlights and was speeding away at over 100 miles per hour.

After entering Callaway County, the man eventually pulled over onto the shoulder near the Auxvasse exit and surrendered to deputies.

Tanner was detained and faces charges of Aggravated Fleeing a Traffic Stop, Operating a Vehicle in a Careless and Imprudent Manner, Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle and Operating a Vehicle Without a Valid License.

He was transported to the Audrain County Jail where he is being held without bond.
