DuBois looks for answers in Mexico hospital funding

Boone Health CEO, Brady Dubois, assured Audrain Countian’s yesterday he is still committed to bringing a rural hospital to Mexico, despite recent setbacks in federal funding.

Dubois was in Mexico yesterday and spoke with local business owners, community members and political leaders about the future of health care in rural Missouri, and how Boone hopes to be a part of that.

Boone Health signed a letter of intent in 2024 with the Audrain County Commission, Audrain County Health Department, and the City of Mexico to bring emergency care to Mexico, and while Dubois says he is still committed to that plan, he acknowledged it has hit some road blocks recently.

It was announced just last week that President Trumps One Big Beautiful Bill does not allow for funds to go towards building a new hospital. That has muddied the waters and DuBois admitted has made a project timeline uncertain at best.

But, he says a hospital in Mexico is at the forefront of Boone Health’s expansion plans.
