MPSD rescues two from structure fire
Embers from smoking apparently to blame for a structure fire in Mexico on Wednesday. Mexico Public Safety was called out at approximately 2:58PM, to the 1000 block of Robinhood.
Smoke and flames showing were reported and neighbors accessed the home and saved two dogs.
As crews were responding, another call came in to Audrain County Joint Communications, from an adult female who stated she and a child were trapped in the basement of the home.
First arriving personnel found a large fire coming from the south side of the home and beginning to burn a neighboring house. MPSD got the woman and child out of the basement through a window on the north side of the home.
The two were checked by staff from Audrain Ambulance District and did not need further medical attention.
The fire was extinguished with the original house suffering serious fire damage and the neighboring house having minor fire damage.
