Nunnelly pleads, sentencing hearing set
Court records show that a sentencing hearing was set on Oct 14th for Janae Nunnelly of Mexico, after she pled guilty to having sexual contact with a student.
Nunnelly, the former Mexico School elementary school teacher and cheer coach, will learn her sentence at 9 a.m. on Jan. 12 in the Audrain County Courthouse.
According to a probable cause statement, the Mexico Public Safety Department was notified on Feb. 25 by the Mexico School District that Nunnelly had been engaged in a sexual relationship with a currently enrolled student. The investigation turned up that she also had a a previous sexual relationship with another student.
Both instances allegedly took place while Nunnelly was a district employee. Nunnelly originally faced two counts of sexual contact with a student, and the state dismissed one of them when she pleaded guilty.
