Jefferson City train accident
A Jefferson City couple lucky to escape a car versus train accident yesterday with minimal injury. It happened just before 3pm, at Hughes and Industrial Drive in Jeff City.
A 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 55-year-old man was southbound on Hughes St approaching the intersection of Industrial Dr.
A Union Pacific train was eastbound on the tracks parallel to Industrial Dr. The train gave an audible signal that it was approaching and advanced warning signs were in place at the intersection.
The truck ran into the train, causing extensive damage to the vehicle. A 49-year-old female passenger reported minor injuries.
The accident caused traffic to be diverted, and impacted Dix and Industrial Dr. traffic for approximately 2.5 hours.
