Boone County Fire Chief Scott Olsen Retires After 40 Years of Service
The Boone County Fire Protection District has announced the retirement of Fire Chief Scott Olsen, after 17 years in the role and 40 years of service.
Olsen began his career as a volunteer firefighter at Station 1 in 1985 and later became one of the original members of Missouri Task Force 1.
In his retirement letter, Olsen called it his highest honor to serve the district and the state.
His retirement becomes official February 1, 2026.
Deputy Chief Doug Westhoff also an original Task Force 1 member has been named interim chief and will work alongside Olsen to ensure a smooth transition.
