State to have more money than expected
A $260-million dollar mistake in the states budget proposal by Gov. Mike Kehoe’s budget office means the state should be in much better shape financially than thought when the state ends its fiscal year in June 2027.
Dan Haug, director of the governor’s budget office, told members of the House Budget Committee that he double added St. Louis Tornado recovery funds, and that the miscalculation will result in the state ending the year with an unspent balance of $265 million, rather than the original projection of $4.7 million.
