Grigsby arrested for murder in Macon County

A January domestic dispute that turned deadly, has now resulted in charges against a 39-year-old Ethel woman. Melinda D. Grigsby was arrested Friday and charged with First-Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action.
Macon County deputies were dispatched to a residence on January 23, at 5:45 p.m., for the shooting of Lawrence Jackson, who was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The investigation showed an argument over content on the man’s phone turned into a physical altercation between Jackson and Grigsby.
Grigsby allegedly struck Jackson in the face with a spatula, and Jackson in turn placed Grigsby in a headlock.
A juvenile had to intervene to get Jackson to let go of Grigsby. The two continued to argue before Grigsby grabbed her purse, which contained a firearm, and went into a bedroom.
The documents then say Grigsby began banging on the walls and door, so Jackson went to the bedroom, where the two continued to argue, before Grigsby drew the firearm and shot Jackson.
Grigsby was booked into Macon County Jail, without bond.
