Missouri House Moves to Make Temporary Gender-Transition Ban Permanent

Efforts to make Missouri’s temporary ban on gender-affirming care for minors permanent reached the state House floor Monday night.

Right now, state law prohibits puberty blockers or surgeries for gender transition in children but that law is set to expire.

Lawmakers are now pushing several bills to remove the expiration date, known as the “sunset,” and keep the ban in place for anyone under 18.

After heated debate, the bills advanced to the “perfection” stage.

They still need full House approval before heading to the Senate.
