The family of 81-year-old Iveta Thayer, who drowned after her car was swept away in flash flood waters near Gillespie Bridge Road on July 3, 2024, is suing Boone County and the City of Columbia.
A wrongful death lawsuit filed Friday claims the city and county failed to warn drivers about dangerous flooding at Perche Creek.
The petition details a timeline showing officials were alerted more than an hour before the incident but did not close the road in time.
The suit seeks at least $25,000 in damages for Thayer’s husband and daughters, alleging negligence led to her death.
