Seventeen-year teaching veteran Rachel Howell has been named the new assistant principal at McMillan Early Learning Center (MELC) in Mexico.
Howell has 13 years experience in teaching kindergarten, completing six at McMillan and seven at Eugene Field. Prior to joining Mexico Public Schools, Howell taught first and second grade at Van-Far.
Howell said she is excited for the opportunity to continue serving the McMillan community in a new capacity.
Her journey into education began at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she initially pursued a degree in anthropology before discovering her passion for early childhood education while working at the university’s Student Parent Center. She earned her Bachelor of Early Childhood Education from Mizzou in 2008 and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Educational Leadership at Northwest Missouri State University.
