New Bloomfield City Clerk Resigns; Interim Appointed
The City of New Bloomfield is seeking a new city clerk.
New Bloomfield Mayor Gary Hoelscher announced at Monday nights meeting that John Joyce, had resigned from the clerk’s position and worked his final day for the city last Friday.
Joyce had served as city clerk since 2021, and cited repeated statements questioning his performance and professional integrity made by Ward I Alderwoman Jessica Shaffer, in a resignation letter dated Feb. 6th.
Joyce stated Shaffer’s questioning of his performance began in April 2025 and continued through early 2026.
Mayor Hoelscher nominated Ward II alderman Katie Lawrence to serve as interim city clerk until Joyce’s permanent replacement could be found.
The nomination was approved unanimously.
