Boone County Fire Protection District names new Fire Chief
The Boone County Fire Protection District has named Doug Westhoff as its new fire chief.
The announcement came Monday, following his service as interim chief after Scott Olson’s retirement in December.
Westhoff’s connection to Boone County runs deep he started volunteering with the district at just 16 and spent nearly 20 years as a paramedic with Boone Hospital’s ambulance service.
A fourth-generation fire chief, Westhoff follows in the footsteps of his father, Bill, who led the district when it was founded.
In a message to the community, Chief Westhoff encouraged members to stay passionate, engaged, and committed to lifelong learning.
