Severe weather is on the way for our region this afternoon and evening.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop later today, becoming widespread by tonight.

Some of these storms could turn severe, especially across northeast Missouri and west-central Illinois.

Forecasters warn that all hazards are possible including large hail, damaging winds, and even a few tornadoes.

Heavy rainfall could also lead to quick rises in creeks and streams, causing minor flooding.

The storms should weaken by mid to late evening as they move southeast.

The severe storm outlook remains at a Slight to Enhanced risk level.
