In Highschool Baseball

The Mexico Bulldogs pulled out a dramatic walk-off win last night at home last night (Wednesday), defeating Fort Zumwalt East 5-4.

Mexico trailed 4-3 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game on the line, Kinser Groves delivered a single that scored two runs, giving the Bulldogs the walk-off victory.

Fort Zumwalt East scored first in the second inning on a Mexico error, then extended the lead in the third when Dominic Pandolfo drew a walk and Chase Sinner tripled to center field, helping the Lions go up 3-0.

Mexico answered in the fifth inning when Zach Jahn doubled to center field, driving in runs to tie the game at three. Fort Zumwalt East took the lead in the sixth after a batter was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, making it 4-3.

Drew DeMint earned the win in relief for Mexico, allowing one hit with no runs over one and one-third innings while striking out two. Pearson Kleinsorge also pitched four and one-third innings in relief, and Brady Fox started the game for the Bulldogs.

At the plate, Zach Jahn led Mexico with three RBIs and went two-for-three, while Chance McCarty collected three hits. The Bulldogs also showed patience at the plate, drawing six walks and turning two double plays defensively.

For Fort Zumwalt East, Chase Sinner, Jackson Bingham, and Carter Mitchell each drove in a run.

Mexico improves to 2 and 3 with the win and will host Eldon on Friday night.


College Baseball

The Missouri Tigers fell to Lindenwood 10-4
Prior to this game, Missouri held a 7–0 all-time record against Lindenwood.
This marks Lindenwood’s first-ever victory over Missouri in baseball history
Cameron Benson led the Tigers with two hits and logged RBIs alongside Blaize Ward.
The Lions capitalized on speed, stealing nine bases, including three by Charlie Isom-McCall.

Major league baseball opened up the 2026 season under the lights last night in San Francisco as new Giants manager Tony Vitello saw his squad lose to the New York Yankees, 7-0.

Vitello, the former Mizzou player and coach, moved from coaching Tennessee in college to coaching San Fran this year.

Hours before first-pitch in St. Louis, the Cardinals announced they have come to an agreement for local TV broadcasts with Spectrum (Charter) cable. The cable giant will carry Cards games on Channel 233 in St. Louis, Columbia, Jefferson City, Springfield, Hannibal and Cape Girardeau in Missouri as well as Paducah, Kentucky, and Quincy, Illinois.

The team is also close to reaching an agreement with satellite’s DirecTV and should have something in place before first pitch. Those telecasts will be on Channel 672 (streaming and satellite), with U-Verse customers getting them on Channel 1746.

Speaking of the Cardinals, they take on the Tampa Bay Rays today in Opening Day at Busch. 3:15 first pitch between St. Louis’ Mathew Liberatore and Tampa’s Drew Rasmussen.

The team made official the promotion to the majors for infielder JJ Wetherholt yesterday as they added their top prospect to their 40-man roster.

To clear a spot, the Cardinals placed outfielder Lars Nootbaar on the 60-day injured list as he continues to rehab from offseason surgery on his heels. That means Nootbaar’s IL stint will keep him sidelined until at least the final week of May.
