Mexico and Moberly both pick up wins in baseball

Mexico picked up an 11-1 win over Eldon on Friday.

Eldon scored first in the top of the first, but Mexico came back with 11 unaanswered runs. It started with a Kaden Benne walk to force in a run to tie the score after one. The Bulldogs took control in the second, scoring four times. Drew DeMint delivered a two-run single, and Benne added an RBI single as Mexico built a 5-1 lead. The Bulldogs never looked back.

Benne earned the win, allowing just two hits and one run over five innings while striking out six. Chance McCarty had two hits, while DeMint drove in two runs. The Bulldogs also showed patience at the plate with 13 walks and played error-free defense.

Mexico is back in action today at Southern Boone.

 

Kyler Fanning was dominant on the mound, as the lefty rang up 11 strikeouts in Moberly’s 4-0 victory over Southern Boone on Friday. Fanning gave up two hits and zero runs over seven innings while walking three.

A walk by Ashton Hunt put the Spartans on the board in the bottom of the second. An error extended the Moberly lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the third inning.

Jackson Woodward took the loss for Southern Boone Varsity Eagles. The pitcher went four innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out five and walking three.

Max Richardson went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Moberly. Fanning and Drew Smothers each drove in a run for the Spartans
