Columbia man charged after armed break-in at Oak Towers
A Columbia man is behind bars after police say he forced his way into a woman’s apartment and threatened her with a knife.
Court records show 65-year-old Jerome Keith Porter was arrested and charged Monday with unlawful use of a weapon, first-degree burglary, and fourth-degree assault.
Investigators say Porter entered a 75-year-old woman’s unit at Oak Towers Apartments Saturday, demanded money, and waved a paring knife when she refused.
Officers later found Porter in his apartment in the same building.
He’s being held at the Boone County Jail without bond after a Monday court appearance.
