Boone County prosecutors have charged a Columbia man after a violent assault last week left one person hospitalized.
Thirty-two-year-old James Couch faces first-degree assault and armed criminal action charges.
Court records show Couch is accused of attacking a man from behind on Highview Avenue, hitting him in the head with a ceramic object.
Police found blood in a nearby vehicle and a shattered, blood-covered candle holder believed to be the weapon.
Couch is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond after his initial court appearance Monday
