A father and daughter were rescued after their truck nearly sank in floodwaters on Akeman Road in north Boone County Thursday afternoon.
Fire crews say the pair called 911 after climbing onto the roof of their vehicle around 2 p.m. The daughter told rescuers they misjudged the depth about three feet of water and lost control as they tried to turn back.
The truck will stay put until the water recedes.
Several Boone County roads were also flooded and closed, including parts of Route E, Rippeto Road, and Creasy Springs.
Fire officials remind drivers: never enter floodwater. “Turn around, don’t drown.”
