A ceremonial groundbreaking held this morning by Missouri Department of Transportation officials as construction on $104 million project to improve Interstate 70 from Boonville to Rocheport is officially underway.
The expansion will add a third lane in each direction of the 13 mile stretch and includes the widening of two I-70 bridges.
The Boonville to Rocheport section is the fifth of the nine I-70 projects, with construction on the section expected to be completed by late 2027.
