JBS Foods shuts down one line at Moberly plant

Meat processor JBS Foods of Moberly is in partial shutdown this week after being cited by the United State Department of Agriculture.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, the bacon plant said it would fully reopen soon after being cited by the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service. No word on how many of the nearly 400 people that are employed at the plant have been affected by the shutdown, but a production line had been shut down.

The citation was based on issues regarding sanitation conditions that did not meet federal regulatory requirements.

JBS expects to resume normal operations at the facility soon, but the USDA must approve the corporations plans to ensure corrective action has been taken.

JBS Foods promotes itself as the second-biggest pork producer in the United States.
