A St. Louis attorney filed suit Wednesday in Audrain County Circuit Court against Missouri Military Academy. The suit claims that systematic failures at MMA allowed a 12-year-old cadet to be repeatedly sexually assaulted over multiple nights inside his dorm room, while the child cried out and banged on the walls for help.
The petition details what it claims as a broader pattern of reported violence, hazing, and sexual misconduct.
The petition alleges these events demonstrate MMA was aware, or in the exercise of reasonable care should have been aware, that unaddressed staffing shortages, supervision failures, and procedural deficiencies exposed cadets to serious and ongoing harm.
By failing to resolve systemic problems, MMA fostered a dangerous, unregulated environment in which vulnerable cadets were exposed to persistent and violent abuse by their peers.
The petition seeks a jury trial, sweeping institutional reforms to protect children at the academy, and a judgment for damages in a “just and reasonable sum in excess of Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000).”
