Charges were filed Thursday in Randolph County Court against a Moberly man accused of attacking a victim during an arranged set up, using a crowbar to intimidate the victim, and causing physical injuries to victim during a dispute regarding child sex abuse.
The victim came into the Police Department Wednesday night at 8:54pm, with a swollen lip and bloody mouth. He claimed he had been catfished into going to a woman’s apartment where two people were waiting for him. Once here, Newcomb held him while another person repeatedly struck him with their fists.
Matthew Newcomb was charged with 3rd Degree Assault, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Tampering with Physical Evidence in a Felony Prosecution.
Newcomb was jailed on a$10,000 bond, and has since bonded out on the condition he have no contact with the victim.
