A jury trial scheduled for April in the 2022 shooting death of a Battle High School student has been canceled.
Daniel Ayers was set to face trial for charges connected to the killing of 15-year-old La’Abryion “Aubry” Doxley in Columbia.
Court records show the trial was called off last week.
A status hearing is now scheduled for 2:45pm today at the Boone County Courthouse.
Prosecutors say Ayers and others fired shots from a moving vehicle on McKee Street in February 2022. The gunfire killed Doxley and injured two others.
Two other men charged in the case have already pleaded guilty and were each sentenced to 18 years in prison.
